Fertility Medications

There is a wide variety of different medications that can be used to help induce ovulation. Several of these medications are taken orally, while other medications can be given by injection to stimulate higher hormone levels and to help produce multiple eggs. These come in many different doses and from several different manufacturers, but they all have a similar purpose and general composition.

Some women may require estrogen or progesterone supplementation to help support a pregnancy. These hormones may be given in various doses and may be given orally, transdermally (on the skin), vaginally, or by injection. Each of these medication types have a particular set of potential side effects and risks. Although these risks are very small, it is important to discuss these fully with your physician before beginning them. One of our nurses will provide individualized instructions to you and your partner to ensure that you are comfortable using these medications.
